Do you want to escape the big city hotels, exhibition halls and other large events and move your conference to a calm and relaxing environment? Here, you can combine your conference with a chance to wind down and relax by the Göta Canal. And maybe add an excursion along Göta Canal in a canoe, pedal boat or on a bike? We can also offer you a relaxing time in our floating wood-fired sauna or a round of mini-golf.
Kapten Bille’s Hostel, Restaurant & Café are located in the old harbour warehouse by Göta Canal in Norsholm. You can still see and sense the traces from the old warehouse. The remains from a turning plate are visible in the driveway, while the old railway track is hidden under the kitchen floor.
The hostel has 12 rooms with 42 beds. The restaurant is fully licensed and offers both lighter meals and an á la carte menu.
The old lock-keeper cottage is situated just by Göta Canal, in Norsholm. The old lock-keeper who kept an eye on the boating traffic, once lived here. In those days, the canal was an important transport route and the lock-keeper had to be available all hours of the day and night.
During the warmer months, the conference can move outside into the garden, which overlooks both Göta Canal, for afternoon coffee. You can then dine in style at Kapten Bille’s Restaurant.
Den maritime touch is evident at Kapten Bille’s. The ceiling is adorned with fishing nets and glass buoys. In the corridor, there are gunwales instead of railings and the rooms have names like Matros (Sailor), Styrman (Mate) and Båtsman (Bosun). And Kapten Bille? Of course, he wears his Captain’s cap.
We are happy to help you tailor your stay to your needs, with meals, fika (that’s Swedish for coffee and something sweet!), accommodation and activities.

Family reunion, birthday bash or a weekend away with friends? Hire the entire hostel with a kitchen/common room for a day or two.
A lovely dinner will of course be served at Kapten Bille’s.
Matros (Sailor), Styrman (Mate) and Båtsman (Bosun) are some of the names of our cabins. Here, you will sleep well in hotel beds in rooms of 2-4 beds. Half of the rooms have a view of Göta Canal. Toilets and showers are located near the rooms and the corridor displays a permanent photo exhibition of Josef’s and Annica’s many journeys across the oceans. A kitchenette is located downstairs.
