In addition to the activities offered by the hostel, there are many beautiful and exciting things to explore on your own.
Walking
The walking paths castles & castles are about 3 km from Captain Bille’s. Within an area of just a few km there have been no less than 5 castles. The remains are from the younger Iron Age until the Middle Ages. Feel free to ask us at the reception for more information on how to get there.

Göta Canal
The Göta Canal also offers beautiful hiking opportunities. You can follow the canal down to Björnavad and Brådtom lock (approx. 3.5 km) or take a bike ride down to the lake Asplången (approx. 7km), for a long trip you can take your bike away to Söderköping.
Ekenäs Castle
This castle is said to be one of Sweden’s best-preserved Renaissance castles and the interior includes several examples of 18th and 19th century furniture and carpentry works. Every year, Ekenäs Knight’s games are played here.

Löfstad Casttle
Löfstad Castle has a history that goes all the way back to the 19th century and Axel Lillie. Emilie Piper, the last owner of the castle, died in 1926 and since then time has stood still. The castle is located in a wonderful English park and there is both a restaurant and a café.

Kolmården Zoo is the perfect excursion destination where you get the opportunity to experience wildlife from all over the world. Watch the monkeys bust and admire the stately tigers, meet Bamse and his friends.

The Museum of Work
In the middle of Motala Ström, the building Strykjärnet rises. It has been called Sweden’s most beautiful industrial building and here you will find the Museum of Work which depicts working life and working conditions through exhibitions, seminars and program activities. There is also a restaurant, a café and a museum shop.

Louis De Geer Concert & Congress
The building has been transformed into a spectacular concert and congress hall with 1379 seats. Here you come to experience events and meetings in an exciting environment with water that flows around the house. De Geerhallen is also the home stage for the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra.

Visualization Center C’s public arena is a digital science center that opened in May 2010 and is visited annually by around 100,000 visitors. The center houses exhibitions, Domen, conference rooms, Virtual Reality arena, restaurant and shop.

Gamla Linköping
In the summer, many activities are organized every day: museums, theater, horse and carriage rides, cane and back, try on crafts and
much else. We also have theater, jewelery days, etc. on certain weekends and other school holidays during the year.
The discovery workshop Fenomenmagasinet is as fun for the children as it is for mum and dad, grandfather and grandmother.
In addition to a number of museums, there is a mini golf course, horses and small animals and the playground Lill-Valla. To Valla you walk or take a ride with the tuff-tuff train, which runs every day in the summer.

Air Force Museum
Flygvapenmuseum är ett modernt teknik- och kulturhistoriskt museum med utställningar om militärflygets utveckling från det tidiga 1900-talets pionjärer fram till dagens JAS 39 Gripen. Här finns en unik samling flygplan, varav många enbart kan ses på Flygvapenmuseum.
Utöver våra basutställningar har vi två till tre olika tillfälliga utställningar per år. Vi satsar även på en aktiv och levande programverksamhet året runt. I vår kalender finns något för alla, från intressanta föredrag till barnvisningar där de minsta följer med våra maskotar Drakel och Viggo på upptäcktsfärd i museet.

Meet Pippi Longstocking, Emil in Lönneberga and Karlsson on the roof. Visit Mattisborgen, Bullerbyn or Bråkmakargatan. Here in Vimmerby in Småland you will meet most of the figures and environments that Astrid Lindgren has written about.
